BREEK

BREEK is a site specific installation for art space NP40 in Amsterdam. The installation was on display in May 2010.
The access to NP40 is a chaotic, almost surreal route of corridors, unclear doors and stairs, some of which go nowhere.
A garden, a landing reminiscent of an observation tower, with a bricked door. And finally, two spaces separated by
a low hanging heavy iron beam, on which stands the mysterious code NP40 from which the art space takes its name.

What kind of place is this? Where do those corridors, doors, stairs lead?

The space invites to building castles in the air, dreamed spaces, more beautiful worlds.

BREEK is a dreamed world of light, projection and transparency, of glass, ice, fire and water.
An observatory that arose from a fascination for natural forms and processes
and at the same time from concerns about climate change and the difficult discussion about how to deal with it.
